This House We Built Release New Single and Video
Rising and ever-vibrant 4-piece Scarborough-based rockers This House We Built release their brand-new single, Nobody’s Fool, accompanied by an imaginative, fun video that gives a glimpse of the Eighties as seen through the eyes of kids today.
“This song started off as a riff from our guitarist Andy Jackson,” explains frontman Scott Wardell, “Between us, we would send each other ‘ditties’ recorded on our phones at various times of the day when we felt inspired. Having a ‘bag of riffs’ made things a little easier sometimes when trying to get a base for a song.
“The lyrics came from a little story that I had in my head about when we were young lads going out on the town, all fired up and eventually catching the wrong woman’s eye, leading you down a road you didn’t intend to follow that evening. I’m sure we’ve all had one of those nights in our lives, haven’t we?
“Anyway,” says Scott, with a grin and gusto, “turn it up to 11 and enjoy the ride!”
Reflecting on the lively video for ‘Nobody’s Fool’, Scott explains, “The idea of the video was to try and make it fun with a capital F.
“We’ve given the video a kind of Eighties 80’s vibe. They were great times, full of happy memories for us and for the kids it’s a glimpse into times before they were born! It’s a bit of an I Spy challenge .There are plenty of Eighties references in there, with a little ‘Tyketto’ thrown in for good measure. We’re huge fans of Tyketto and Danny Vaughn’s been an awesome champion and mentor for us.
“My sister’s boys (Ross, Bob & Ted) feature in the video and also our new drummer Chris’s lad (Felix). We’ve dressed them all up to look like our ‘mini mes’: they had great fun and we made sure there was plenty of Haribos and Fruit Shoots to keep their energy up!
“As you’ll see, the grown-up band members opted for our very own, special brew: This Beer We Built’ which we shamelessly plug throughout the video! We’re hoping that the sales of the beer fund the recording of the new album.”
This House We Built have earned glowing endorsements and rave reviews from Dave Ling (Classic Rock), who called them an “immensely promising quartet playing a confident, summery, sometimes funk-fuelled style that will leave you grinning from ear to ear”.
Meanwhile, Rob Evans (Powerplay Rock & Metal) praised them for “the best independent album I’ve heard this year”, and predicted that “This House We Built are already on rock solid foundations on which to build a successful career in the music scene.”
The band are keeping very busy and have a number of festivals planned up and down the country this year, they are also half way through writing their second album and have just been given the opening slots to Tyketto’s up and coming Winter tour.
Of late, they’ve also been working with Danny (of Tyketto, Snake Oil & Harmony & a leading independent solo artist), and have a single ready to release very soon: watch this space!
“Geez! These guys can really write songs!” says Danny, “Frankly, there’s not a duff song in the bunch. And the production! This sounded as sonically huge and complete as any of the very best classic rock albums.”
