Happy Holidays! ‘Let’s All Get Together and Fight’

Southern blues-rock royalty, The Kentucky Headhunters release an animated lyric video for their tongue-in-cheek song, ‘Let’s All Get Together and Fight’. The song’s ideal for a wry, tongue-in-cheek holiday release when so many folk and families will be gathering to celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and all other family gatherings. Whilst such occasions are often full of fine fare and fellowship, many are often also full of friction, and the longstanding traditions of gathering, bickering, bitching, fighting, and arguing over all and sundry. The Kentucky Headhunters celebrate this in ‘Let’s All Get Together and Fight’.

The song’s roots lies in band member Richard Young’s very own holiday family gatherings, which after the restrictions imposed on contact, gathering and partying because of COVID, he appreciates more and more.

“Every year around this time, all families come together,” Young recently told Everything Nash, “and if your family is anything like ours, there is always one or two folks that get their feelings hurt, or just plain old disrupt for attention.

“I must admit, I have snuck many half-cakes in the trash can, to keep one of our family members from getting their feelings hurt, because she was not a county fair Blue Ribbon cook. Kind of like Aunt Bea’s homemade pickles on Andy Griffith!

“Like everyone else, we all hunkered down at home in 2020, and didn’t have our normal family gatherings,” Richard reflects. “As my wife, Cindy, made a crockpot of deer and vegetables, cornbread, and her award-winning broccoli casserole for Thanksgiving, it made me realize even more than ever how special family is. Hindsight is 2020, so love each other, and cherish the moments, even if we all get together and fight!”

Happy Holidays!

Last month, the Headhunters released their first album of all-new material in half a decade.
